AAA will not pick up:

Do you take large items and when?
When you call our office 24 hours in advance of your pickup day, we will take some bulk items on your normal trash pickup day. For appliances, metal, or heavy items we will service with a different vehicle. Please call our customer service department at (703) 818-8222 for the schedule of these pickup dates. There is a nominal fee for the special pickup based on the type of item. Prices begin at $50.00.
Does the trash inside the cart have to be bagged?
Yes. All trash should be bagged and placed inside the toter (if applicable) or your own personal trash cans. If you do not use trash cans please make sure your bagged trash is securely prepared.
How many toters (carts) are we allowed to have?
Each resident receives one toter and a recycling bin for no additional charge with the service. If you would like an additional toter we will provide it for a nominal fee per month.
What are the business hours?
Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
What do you accept for residential curbside recycling?
Currently AAA provides curbside recycling collection for all plastics #1-7, cans, glass bottles and jars, and mixed paper. Mixed Paper Includes: • junk mail • magazines • catalogs • newspapers • phone books • cereal and cracker boxes • flattened cardboard • AAA would prefer (3ft x 3 ft). Items not acceptable for curbside recycling: • light bulbs • ceramic dishes • cookware • pizza boxes • plastic or wax coated paper (milk cartons) • hardcover books • styrofoam • plastic bags • aluminum foil or foil pie pans Please check back frequently for a list of newly accepted recyclables. What happens when my service day falls on a holiday?
As a general rule, twice a week customers will only receive service once the week of the holiday. One time per week customers would be scheduled for pickup on Saturday. Please click here before the holiday for any changes.
What if we have extra bags?
We will pick up one toter and up to three additional bags. Please call our office 24 hours in advance to advise us of the extra trash. There will be an extra charge for additional bags of trash.
What is your holiday schedule?
Depending on landfill and transfer station availability, we may be closed on other holidays, as well. If your service day falls on a holiday, please click here for continuous updates or call our customer service center for updates at (703) 818-8222. 2011 Holiday Collection Schedule November 24, 2011 Thanksgiving Day Our business office and operations department will be closed on Thanksgiving day, Thursday, November 24. Our holiday schedule is as follows: Residential customers whose recycling day is on Thursday, November 24th will be serviced on Saturday November 26th. Rural residential areas only serviced on Thursdays will also be collected on Saturday November 26th. All other Residential areas will be serviced on their next service day. Commercial customers whose pickup day falls on Thursday November 24 will receive service the previous or next business day after the holiday. Christmas 2011 Our business office will be closed on December 26, 2011. Our operations department will be running regular schedule routes. Christmas Tree Removal All Counties except Prince William: We will be providing Christmas tree removal service on the first two Wednesdays in January 2012; January 4 and January 11. Any trees to be removed thereafter will be removed with trash pickup. Tree Placement Please place the trees at the curb with all trimmings removed. Trees in excess of 8 feet in length need to be cut in half in order to be removed by our crews. Prince William County Residents Please place Christmas trees out with the household trash. What time does the trash have to be out at the curb?
Fairfax and Loudoun County residential customers refuse must be placed at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day. Prince William County residential customers refuse must be placed at the curb by 5:00 a.m. on your collection day.
When will you pick up my yard debris?
All yard waste to be collected must be prepared accordingly and placed to the curb for collection. Please check your county office for information specific to your area. Prince William County residents may place yard waste out year-round with the trash. Fairfax and Loudoun County residents must place it out separately from March 1-December 24. Note: Composting, chipping and mulching are great ways to recycle your yard waste. These products can be used to improve the overall health of your lawn and garden. It is our goal to pick up what is set out for collection but during peaks in yard waste production, we may choose to limit collection to 20 bags of yard waste per pick-up day. Brush and limbs must be cut into 4-foot lengths, bundled with rope or twine and should not exceed 50 pounds. Loudoun County: grass clippings, leaves and twigs can be placed in paper bags or personal containers. Fairfax County: grass clippings, leaves and twigs can be placed in paper bags, personal containers, clear plastic bags or black plastic bags marked with an “X”. Tree limbs that are larger than 6 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length will not be collected. All unbundled brush will be considered a special pick-up. Please call our office or visit our website in advance to schedule your pickup of these items. The minimum charge for a special pickup is $50.00. We provide a special collection for Christmas trees up to 8 feet long on the first two Wednesdays in January. Please removal all decorations and tinsel before placing at the curb. Any trees not picked up by the second Wednesday in January will be collected with the trash starting the following week.
